1. How to use this website

What you do:

  • COPY the message on this page
    (in the yellow expandable box).

Send it to your politicians, from school-board to Congress.

    Send it to fundraisers.

    That’s all.

If you’re afraid for your safety, your future, as this government regime breaks the rules that have kept you relatively okay, you need to put your money where your mouth is: vocally require courageous and active leadership.

This website is here to guide you in sending one simple, relentless message to everyone who asks for your time, money, and vote, as they attempt to represent you in government.

    So:

    • EVERY time you get the chance, send your demands for a stronger fight from so-called leaders.

    • COPY the message on this page (in the yellow expandable box)

    • PASTE and SEND it to everyone who asks for your vote, time, or dollars.

    Some places to send this:

    • 5 Calls — this org makes it really easy to contact your own legislators

    • Democracy.io— Use this cool tool to send the message to your senator and representatives.

    • Also write to your state attorney general.

    • To fundraisers, when you get a text asking for a campaign donation.

    • On candidates’ websites: they all have a “contact” email form or address.

    • On your state’s attorney general’s websites (contact form/email address).

Also, when you see a public figure doing more than the rest to protect us from tyranny, THANK THEM!

  • Do better or resign now.

You’re here because you haven’t demonstrated that you’re at all up to the job of using your post to save your constituents from aggressive efforts to destroy a system of governing that is meant to protect us from wicked, ghastly exploitation of humanity and all resources.

    That’s big.

If you’re not up to extraordinary measures, you’re not up to the job.

If that’s the case, you can either step down/step aside formally, or you can step up.

Stepping up might mean that you:

    • Brag on your website homepage and in every PR message about all the egregious and courageous actions you’ve taken to beat back fascism. Surely you’ve done a bunch, right?
      That doesn’t include mere votes.

    • Take out full-page ads detailing fascist scumbag attacks on democracy.

    • Stand in front of crowds with a bullhorn. March with the rest of us, for Pete’s sake! (I can’t BELIEVE I was at the demonstration AND YOU WEREN’T!)

    • Write op-eds calling out newspapers for neglecting nationwide protests.

    • Collaborate with other politicians to hire TikTok mean-girl and bro influencers to virally call out your awful opponents.

    • Vote to get your fascist opponents’ families removed from private clubs, private schools, any orgs with norms of decency. Shame your opponents publicly. Because we are right and they are bad.

    • Proudly promote the legislators who are braver than you are!

    • And if you’re just doing business as usual, well, we don’t need that, so just resign!

  • Seriously?

If you’re hardly covering grassroots resistance; if you’re not energetically amplifying the voices of every effort to beat back fascism, your news room folks are on their way to prison and deportation, with your help.

On the first day that Senator Sanders and Representative Ocasio-Cortez gathered >50K people across two rallies to push back, The NY Times didn’t even cover it.

When you’re rounded up, it’ll be your fault, unless you get on the stick.

    So, every day:

    • Cover resistance efforts, for Pete’s sake! Don’t just show some pics with a little article. Provide counts. Quote smart participants.

    • Highlight action leaders; help them rise to prominence.

    • Don’t be afraid of resistance “radicals”. Just as it is no longer out of the ordinary to rob elderly folks of the social security they paid into all their lives, or to deport citizens without charges or a trial, it is no longer radical to resist.

    • Prominently display contact information for bad actors and good actors, alike.

    • Don’t pull punches. Lies are lies; call them that. If you can’t invalidate false claims, you don’t deserve to publish your articles.

    • Do good investigative work, so your readers don’t have to: Quote Politifact and Snopes. Include links to academic articles that discredit health-policy lies. Etc.

Earn your keep, journalists. Otherwise you will end up like journalists usually do under dictatorships: dead or useless.

    _____________

    Dear <Recipient>

    Do you want my support?
My vote, my time, my money?
Well, you can’t have any of that UNLESS YOU:

    • FIGHT harder — to protect our people and our system of government, our way of life.

      • Stand up in front of crowds.

      • When we march, you march.

      • Write op-eds. Take out full-page ads.

      • Get aggressive.

      • Take off your damn tie, yell more.

      • You think you’re scared now?
Wait til they round you up
        .

    • PROVE you’re fighting harder — press releases, ads in newspapers, prominent text on your home page.

    • SHAME the shameless:

      • Name, blame, shame those who allow wickedness to poison the systems that we put in place to guard decency for our people, our country, and our planet.

      • CALL THEM OUT, over and over.

    • PROMOTE those braver than you:

      • Campaign for your younger, braver colleagues,

      • Because we ARE going to vote for them and donate to them.

    • And how about you go to https://oneredcent.org and take it from there.

    Sincerely yours,
    - <Your name here>
